Eligibility

Local undergraduates in Hong Kong in a team of 2 to 4 members

 

Paper Competition requirements

  • Each team is required to submit the below on or before the deadline:
  1. the paper: no more than 5,000 words in English; 
  2. executive summary: no more than 100 words in English; and
  3. photo(s) of each of team member
  • Teams are required to:
  1. read and follow the HKCGI writing style guide; and
  2. state a bibliography at the bottom of the relevant page(s) and at the end of the paper, if made
  • Teams are NOT allowed to put any group member or university/institute name(s) etc. for identification purpose in all pages except the cover page of the paper
  • Team will be disqualified if:
  1. they provide with HKCGI any incorrect or false information; and/or
  2. their submitted paper has infringement of any copyright of any third party*

* Plagiarism is a serious academic offence and all papers suspected of the same shall be disqualified at the absolute discretion of the reviewers or judges.

 

Important notes

  • Topic and word count of the paper should be included in the cover page;
  • Footnote or bibliography will not be counted in the word count of paper; and
  • Your paper, executive summary and photos should be saved in separate files with the following format:
  1. paper: CG Paper 2023_[team leader’s name];
  2. executive summary: Executive summary_[team leader’s name]; and
  3. photo: photo_[Full name] (e.g photo_Chan Tai Man).

Presentation Competition (for the six finalist teams)

Reviewers and judges

  • A team of 10 to 15 academics from higher education institutions to review and select the six finalist teams.
  • A three-member panel judges who are chartered secretaries and chartered governance professionals to determine the Best Paper Award, first and second runners-up of the Paper Competition.
  • Another three-member panel judges from the profession to determine the Best Presentation Award on the presentation day.
  • The audience on the presentation day to vote and determine the Audience’s Favourite Team.

 

Photographs, video and sound records

This Competition shall be photographed, filmed and/or sound recorded, and all images and sounds (include any identifiable images and sounds of participants) will be used by HKCGI.

 

Publication

The Best Paper shall be published in the HKCGI monthly journal (CGj) together with the first and second runners-up papers publish in the Booklet of the Competition, and other HKCGI publications and social media platforms.
